Two Americans Murdered at Beijing Olympics

The Beijing Olympics got off to a rough start as a crazed attacker assailed two American tourists and a Chinese tour guide with a knife, killing a man and wounding two women. Usain Bolt Sets New World Record in Men's 200m at the Beijing Olympics

Bolt Strikes Again with Thunder

In a history making moment, Usain Bolt has confirmed that he is a force to be reckoned with, successfully claiming the 200m men's sprint final in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and setting yet another world record. Not only that, he is the first man since Carl Lewis to win both the 100m and 200m sprints in the same Olympic year.

The record was achieved in a time of 19.3 seconds to break Michael Johnson's 12-year-old world record, one of the most venerable in the books. "I just blew my mind and blew the world's mind," Bolt said.

As he approached the finish line, Bolt was an amazing 0.52 seconds clear of his nearest competitor, Churandy Martina of Netherlands Antilles. Martina was disqualified however, after a U.S. protest against him for running out of his lane, which saw another American, Shaun Crawford pick up the silver medal by default. "It feels like a charity case," Crawford said.

Either way, it was about four body lengths, the biggest margin in an Olympic 200.

Usain Bolt Wins Men's 100m at Beijing Olympics with a New World Record

He is now the biggest star sprinter since Carl Lewis, crushing the competition in the men's 100m final at the Beijing Olympics, 2008, Bolt ran 9.69sec to break his own world record. His performance was absolutely scintillating, striking 0.03 sec off his own world record for the event.

As he crossed the finish line, Bolt seemed as though he was laughing at the prospect of another smashed record, his confidence ever present in yet another moment of glory. "I've been training all year for this,'' he said. "I could maybe go 9.60 the way I looked."

With his extraordinary performance in this sprint, Bolt may very well have become the golden boy that the Olympics has so been longing for since the sprinting days of Carl Lewis.

He will be soon to test that theory, when tonight he has the chance to be the first man since Lewis won the 100m and 200m sprint events at the Olympics in the same year. If his recent sprint was anything to go by, there is nothing that is going to stop him.

ARGENTINA KICKS SOME BRAZILLIAN BUTT 2008 OLYMPICS

Argentina 3-0 Brazil

In a landslide victory, Argentina has thrashed Brazil in the 2008 Beijing Olympic football semifinals, with a 3-0 victory.  The win came after Sergio 'El Kun' Aguero scored two second half goals, and sealing the deal with a penalty shot to shoot Argentina into the Olympics football finals against Nigeria on Saturday.

'This was like a final for us,' said Aguero. 'Beating Brazil is the best thing.'

However the shock of the match was Brazil's approach.  In an unconventional move, they chose to play two of their best midfielders in man-marking roles: Anderson was placed in the role of covering Messi, and Lucas was in a similar position having to mark Riquelme.

Regardless of this strange tactic, Brazil refused to accept any responsibility for it possibly contributing to their loss.  The move was further emphasized by two red cards late in the match, which left the team highly vulnerable to Argentina's attack.

Michael Phelps Interview - Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Swimming Champion

Video Description:

Eight-time gold medal winner Michael Phelps talks with ESPN's Jeremy Schaap about his record-breaking Olympic Games. This 10 minute long interview, direct from espn, reveals the man behind the swimming machine that is Michael Phelps. Please leave your comments and share your views on this legend.

He holds the record for the most gold medals won at a single Olympics; a total of eight, surpassing Mark Spitz. Overall, Phelps has won 16 Olympic medals: six gold and two bronze at Athens in 2004, and eight gold at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. In winning these medals, he has twice equaled Soviet gymnast Alexander Dityatin's record of eight medals (of any type) at a single Olympics (Dityatin: Moscow 1980; Phelps: Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008). Out of his eight gold medals from Beijing, five were won in individual events, tying the record for individual gold medals at a single Games originally set by Eric Heiden in the 1980 Winter Olympics and equaled by Vitaly Scherbo at the 1992 Summer Games. Phelps ranks second in total career Olympic medals, after Soviet gymnast Larissa Latynina, who won a total of 18 medals (nine gold) spanning three Olympic Games.

Phelps' international titles, along with his various world records, have resulted in him being awarded the World Swimmer of the Year Award in 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007 and American Swimmer of the Year Award in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007. Phelps has won a total of 48 career medals thus far: 40 gold, six silvers and two bronze. This includes all of the Championships in which he has competed: The Olympics, the World Championships, and the Pan Pacific Championships.
